A fixed-dose combination oral medication used for the management of moderate to severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It works by reducing prostate size, improving urinary flow, and relieving lower urinary tract symptoms.
Indications:
- Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
- Reduction in the risk of acute urinary retention (AUR).
- Reduction in the need for BPH-related surgery.
- Improvement of urinary flow and reduction of prostate volume.
Main Active Ingredients:
- Dutasteride 0.5 mg.
- Tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4 mg.
Precautions:
- Contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment.
- Caution in patients with renal impairment or cardiovascular disorders (especially hypotension).
- Prostate cancer screening should be done prior to and during treatment, as PSA levels may be reduced.
- Consult a doctor before use if taking antihypertensive medications.
Side Effects:
- Decreased libido.
- Erectile dysfunction.
- Ejaculation disorders.
- Breast tenderness or enlargement.
- Hypotension (low blood pressure).
Drug–Drug Interactions:
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
- Alpha-blockers.
- Antihypertensives.
- Warfarin.
- PDE5 inhibitors.
- Adults (men): Take one capsule daily with or without food.
- Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush.
- Take at the same time each day for best effect.
- Do not stop treatment abruptly without consulting a physician.
