A medication used to treat malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis by inhibiting parasite growth and modulating the immune response, thereby reducing inflammation and improving symptoms.

Indications:
- Suppresses and treats acute malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax, P. malariae, P. ovale, and susceptible strains of P. falciparum.
- Treats chronic discoid and systemic lupus erythematosus.
- Manages acute or chronic rheumatoid arthritis.

Main Active Ingredient:
- Hydroxychloroquine sulfate 200 mg.

Precautions:
- Regular ophthalmologic examinations are required for long-term therapy to monitor for retinal damage.
- Use with caution in patients with liver disease, kidney problems, or G-6-PD deficiency.
- Avoid use during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks.
- Keep out of reach of children due to high toxicity risk.

Side Effects:

- Malaria suppression: Adults 400 mg weekly, children 5 mg/kg weekly.
- Malaria treatment: Adults initial 800 mg, followed by 400 mg at 6–8 hours and 400 mg daily on the next two days.
-Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis: Initial 400 mg once or twice daily; maintenance 200–400 mg daily.
- Take with food or a glass of milk to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
