This medication is an oral antidiabetic medication used to manage high blood sugar levels.

Benefits:
Treats type 2 diabetes in adults when blood sugar is not sufficiently controlled by one oral medication (like metformin or a sulfonylurea) or by diet and exercise alone.
Helps lower blood sugar levels when used alongside diet and exercise.

-Allergic Reactions: Serious allergic reactions may occur, including wheezing, shortness of breath, rashes, hives, or swelling that can affect breathing or swallowing (angioedema).
-Pancreatitis: Some patients have experienced inflammation of the pancreas while on linagliptin.
-Common Side Effects: Increased blood lipase levels.
-Uncommon Side Effects: Inflammation of the nose or throat (nasopharyngitis), cough, constipation (when combined with insulin), and increased blood amylase levels.
-Rare Side Effect: Skin blistering (bullous pemphigoid).

Drug Interactions:
-Inform your doctor if you are taking carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, or rifampicin, as these can affect linagliptin's efficacy.
