A vaginal cream used to treat vaginal yeast and fungal infections by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis in the fungal cell membrane, leading to disruption of membrane integrity and inhibition of fungal growth.
Indications:
- Vaginal yeast infections (commonly caused by Candida species).
- Vaginal inflammation caused by fungi.
- Superinfections with clotrimazole-sensitive bacteria.
- Relief of vaginal discharge, itching, burning, and discomfort.
Main Active Ingredient:
- Clotrimazole 1%.
Precautions:
- Do not use if allergic to clotrimazole or any excipients.
- Use with caution during the first trimester of pregnancy and only under medical advice.
- During pregnancy, treatment should be performed without an applicator.
- Avoid use during menstruation.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
Side Effects:
- Local Burning In The Vagina.
- Stinging In The Vagina.
- Irritation In The Vagina.
- Redness.
- Rash.
- Blisters.
- Peeling.
- Itching.
- Hives.
- Edema.
- Abdominal Cramps.
- Increased Urination.
- Contact Allergies.
- Partner may occasionally experience irritation of the penis or urethra.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
- Reduced effectiveness when combined with amphotericin B or other polyene antifungals (e.g. nystatin, natamycin).
- High doses of dexamethasone may decrease clotrimazole activity.
