Main Ingredients & Their Benefits:
-Glucose Oxidase is an enzyme that is crucial for the chemical reaction that occurs when a blood sample is applied to the test strip. Glucose oxidase reacts specifically with glucose, producing gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide as byproducts.
-Peroxidase is an enzyme that works alongside glucose oxidase to catalyze the oxidation of substances in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, which helps amplify the signal generated during the reaction.
-Number of strips: 50 strips.
-Before starting the test, it is crucial to wash and dry your hands thoroughly. This minimizes the risk of contamination and ensures accurate results.
-Ensure you have all necessary supplies ready, including the FreeStyle Optium blood glucose meter, test strips, a lancing device, and alcohol wipes if needed.
-Take one test strip from its individual foil wrapper to maintain sterility. Insert the strip into the strip port of your FreeStyle Optium meter. The meter will turn on automatically when the strip is inserted.
-Use a lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip to obtain a blood sample. It is recommended to use the side of your finger rather than the pad, as it tends to be less painful.
-The FreeStyle Optium requires a small sample size of 0.6 μL. Make sure you have enough blood for an accurate reading.
-Apply Blood to Strip: Once you have a drop of blood, touch it to the fill area (top or tip fill) of the test strip. The fill trigger will ensure that testing begins only when sufficient blood has been applied.
Wait for Results: After applying the blood sample, wait approximately 5 seconds for your result to appear on the screen.
-View Results: Once complete, your blood glucose level will be displayed on the meter screen. Record this value as needed for monitoring purposes.
