Long Lasting
A medication used to manage seizures and certain neurological or mood conditions by stabilizing neuronal activity via reducing repetitive firing in the brain, thereby preventing seizures and alleviating nerve pain.

Indications:
- Treatment of complex or simple partial seizures (with or without secondary generalization), generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and mixed seizure types.
- Acute mania and maintenance treatment of bipolar affective disorders to prevent recurrence.
- Alcohol-withdrawal syndrome.
- Idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia (and that due to multiple sclerosis), and idiopathic glossopharyngeal neuralgia.
- Painful diabetic neuropathy.
- Central diabetes insipidus (polyuria and polydipsia of neurohormonal origin).

Main Active Ingredient:
- Carbamazepine (modified-release) 200 mg per tablet.

Precautions:
- Not effective for absence (petit mal) and myoclonic seizures.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hepatic or renal impairment, hematological disorders, glaucoma, or when switching from other antiepileptic drugs.
- Monitor for serious dermatologic reactions (e.g., Stevens–Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), especially in patients with the HLA-B*1502 allele.
- Monitor blood counts for signs of bone marrow suppression (e.g., aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis).

Side Effects:
- Dizziness.
- Drowsiness.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
- Dry Mouth.
- Loss Of Balance Or Coordination.
- Severe Skin Reactions (SJS/TEN).
- Bone Marrow Depression (Aplastic Anemia, Agranulocytosis).
- Hyponatremia.
- SIADH.
- Hepatic Dysfunction.
- Renal Dysfunction.
- Cardiovascular Disturbances.
- Visual Disturbances.
- Increased Suicidal Ideation.

Drug-Drug Interactions:
- Potent inducer of CYP450 enzymes; can reduce the effectiveness of many drugs (e.g., warfarin, lamotrigine, benzodiazepines, theophylline, methadone) and hormonal contraceptives.
- Levels may be increased by CYP inhibitors (e.g., erythromycin, cimetidine, calcium channel blockers, grapefruit juice).
- Concomitant use with valproic acid may inhibit the metabolism of carbamazepine metabolite, increasing side effects.

- The dosage is determined by the doctor.
- Take each tablet whole (do not chew), with a little liquid during or after a meal.
- Initial doses typically start at 200 mg once or twice daily, then are gradually titrated as needed based on clinical response and, if required, plasma levels.
