A human insulin preparation of intermediate duration designed to control blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. It provides basal insulin coverage to maintain stable glucose levels between meals and overnight.
Indications:
- Management of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
- Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus when basal insulin is required.
- Maintenance of blood glucose levels between meals and overnight.
- Can be used in combination with short-acting insulin for meal-time coverage.
Main Active Ingredients:
- Isophane human insulin (100 IU/mL).
Precautions:
- For subcutaneous use only; not for intravenous administration except under medical supervision.
- Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy.
- Monitor blood glucose regularly to avoid hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
- Adjust dose during illness, stress, surgery, or changes in diet/activity.
- Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
- Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Do not share pens or needles between patients.
- Store refrigerated (2-8°C); do not freeze.
Possible Side Effects:
- Hypoglycemia .
- Local injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching).
- Lipodystrophy at injection site.

Drug-Drug Interactions:
- Oral hypoglycemics, ACE inhibitors, salicylates, SSRIs .
- Corticosteroids, diuretics, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics .
