A prolonged-release medication used to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia by relaxing the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, making urination easier.
Indications:
- Relief of lower urinary tract symptoms in adult men with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Main Active Ingredient:
- Alfuzosin Hydrochloride 10 mg.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have liver impairment, heart disease, or a history of low blood pressure.
- Avoid driving or operating machinery at the start of treatment as dizziness or fainting may occur.
- Inform your ophthalmologist before cataract surgery, as intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS) may develop.
- This medicine is not intended for use by women.
Side Effects:
- Dizziness.
- Headache.
- Fatigue.
- Postural hypotension (low blood pressure when standing).
- Abdominal pain.
- Nausea.
- Palpitations.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
- Caution when taken with antihypertensive medications like lisinopril, amlodipine, or losartan, as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.
- Other alpha-blockers: Avoid concurrent use with alpha-blockers such as tamsulosin, doxazosin, or prazosin due to additive hypotensive effects.
- Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
- Take as directed by the physician.
- Take one tablet (10 mg) once daily after the same meal each day.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
- Do not crush or chew.
