A film-coated tablet used to control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes by combining mechanisms that increase glucose excretion through urine and improve the body’s response to insulin.
Indications:
- Controls blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Main Active Ingredients:
- Dapagliflozin 10 mg
- Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg
Precautions:
- Do not use in type 1 diabetes or a history of diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Avoid if severe kidney, liver, or heart problems are present.
- Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
- Inform your doctor about all medications being taken to avoid interactions.
Side Effects:
- Urinary tract infections, yeast infections, gastrointestinal discomfort (diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach).
- Hypoglycemia when used with other antidiabetic medicines.
- Vitamin B12 deficiency, dehydration, and low blood pressure.
- Rare but serious: lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, Fournier’s gangrene, pancreatitis, kidney or liver issues.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
- Other diabetes medications, such as insulin and sulfonylureas, may increase the risk of low blood sugar.
- Diuretics, such as furosemide, may increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.
- ACE inhibitors and ARBs, like enalapril or losartan, may affect kidney function and blood pressure.
- NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, may impair kidney function.
- Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, may raise blood sugar levels.
- Thyroid medications, like levothyroxine, may interfere with blood sugar control.
- Certain antibiotics, like ciprofloxacin, may cause changes in blood sugar levels.
