Alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist eye drops designed to reduce elevated intraocular pressure by both decreasing fluid production and enhancing its drainage.
Indications:
- Open-angle glaucoma.
- Ocular hypertension (high eye pressure).
Main Active Ingredient:
- Brimonidine tartrate 0.2%.
Precautions:
- Use only under a healthcare provider’s supervision.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip, to prevent contamination.
- Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting.
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor.
Side Effects:
- Mild eye irritation (burning, redness, itching).
- Dry mouth.
- Blurred vision.
- Drowsiness or fatigue.
Drug–Drug Interactions:
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
- Tricyclic antidepressants.
- Other ocular hypotensive medications.
- Wash hands thoroughly.
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill one drop into the eye.
- Close your eyes for 1–2 minutes; apply gentle pressure on the tear duct.
- Wait at least 5 minutes before applying other eye drops.
- Adults and children over 2 years: one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily, approximately 8 hours apart.
