It is also prescribed for treating hepatic encephalopathy (a brain function disorder caused by severe liver disease) by lowering ammonia levels in the blood.

Main Ingredients & Their Functions:

-Duphalac can be taken either diluted or undiluted. If preferred, it can be mixed with water, fruit juice, or milk to improve taste.
-It is best taken at the same time each day, preferably during breakfast.

-Recommendations for Dosage:
-For Constipation/Stool Softening:

-Adults and Adolescents: Start with 15-45 ml, followed by a maintenance dose of 15-30 ml.
-Children (7-14 years): Start with 15 ml, followed by 10-15 ml as maintenance.
-Children (1-6 years): 5-10 ml for both initial and maintenance doses.
-Infants (under 1 year): Up to 5 ml for both starting and maintenance doses.

-For Hepatic Encephalopathy (Adults):

Start with 30-45 ml, three to four times daily, adjusting based on response until two or three stools are passed daily.
Lactulose can be taken with or without food, and dosage can be adjusted depending on individual response. A measuring cup is provided.
