Gleptal 50mg Tablet belongs to a class of anti-diabetic drugs used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, especially in patients whose blood sugar levels are not controlled by diet and exercise alone. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. People with type 2 diabetes either do not produce enough insulin or cannot perform its function in the body (insulin resistance). Gleptal works by preventing the breakdown of a chemical messenger called the 'incretin' hormone. This hormone is released after the meal to stimulate the release of insulin from the pancreas.
