What Captopril is used for:Captopril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, kidney problems caused by diabetes, and to improve survival after a heart attack.Do not take Captopril:If you’re allergic to the active substance, other ACE inhibitors or any other component of this medicine.If you have ever had a reaction which included swelling of the hands, lips face or tongue where the cause was unknown.If you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and you are treated with the blood pressure lowering medicine Aliskiren.If you are more than 3 months pregnant.Possible side effects:Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.Serious side effects:Angioedema characterized by swelling of the face, hands and feet, rash, and difficulty breathing.Common side effects:DizzinessRashOther medicines and Captopril:Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.Tell your doctor especially if you are taking:Other ACE InhibitorsMedicines that lower blood pressureAliskirenDiuretics (water pills)Potassium supplementsLithium (for mental disease)Medicine that suppress your immune systemMedicines for goutMedicine to treat irregular heartbeatNon-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkiller (NSAIDS)
